Inside a closed-loop lab

A closed-loop lab treats every experiment as data. The result of one reaction updates the plan for the next, without waiting for someone to transcribe a notebook.

#The loop

  1. Plan: the platform proposes conditions for the next experiment.
  2. Run: automated equipment carries out the reaction and the analysis.
  3. Learn: results are recorded in a structured form and the model is updated.
  4. Review: a chemist checks the proposal before the next round starts.

#What stays human

Automation is good at repeating a well-defined step many times. Chemists are still the ones who notice that a colour change is wrong, that a byproduct looks familiar, or that a route deserves a second chance.
